A fun way of living heathenry is to leave visible markers on sacred places. Ofcourse we do this with all respects for the local circumstances. No damaging, no polluting. Such signs will bring awareness to people, show heathenry is alive and other heathens may be inspired or may want to find out why that place is marked or who is doing it. Sparking chatter, research and new brainwaves with people. At the same time you can turn them into an idol, representing the focus of your attention during ritual at such a place. It enlarges the presence of heathenry which is for many exclusively visible online. Also the tying of ribbons in trees or leaving of offerings can be ways to make heathenry visible. At the forest near my place there is an old oak in the center at the crossroads. I have left small carvings of runes, ribbons, etc. On regular basis I bring an offering or just a decoration. And every time I notice someone or several others did something similar. I keep hoping to bump into such a person at this oak, cause it feels we are ‘talking’ to each other true the decorations we leave behind. I feel encouraged when I come across traces of heathens in the wild, knowing that heathenry becomes more and more a visible religion.
