OsricKeymasterI wanted to start this thread, to capture research and discussion around these white stones, and how we might incorporate this into our current ritual technology.

JorreParticipantWe have a few ‘white stones’ here too. None of them I believe are fallus shaped but this here in particular is named ‘Witte Steen’ and through folklore they connect to Wodan. This one has cup marks, also a common feature in many sacred stones.
Interesting also is the Haina stone in Wéris, it’s named after a germanic goddess and painted white with chalk every midsommer. The white chalking of stones appears to be some sort of pagan custom. The same as using black root on faces to bring luck, there appears a link.-

Ælfswiþ᛬JackieParticipantSo, it’s not exactly the same thing described here, but it might be related. Here’s a reference to a white stone or pebble having been ritually deposited into well in the Netherlands

OsricKeymasterThat may indeed be related! Does look like a preference for white stones.

Ælfswiþ᛬JackieParticipantSo this could probably be it’s own thread, but I feel like we could totally talk more, as a group, about the significance of wells and depositional offerings

OsricKeymasterYeah, why don’t we make a forum thread here for that?
